Ageism, Healing, and Health Care

As our population in the United States ages, research summarized in Applewhite’s This Chair Rocks: A Manifesto Against Ageism (year) sounded the alarm on the prejudice against older adults in America. More recently, Wayne Jonas MD’s how healing works (2018) summarized this topic’s research using vignettes of his own American patients and how they suffered with chronic conditions and how they found healing. This convening aims to consider these themes based on attendees’ own insights and experiences. Desired attendee outcomes will be their own and may inform personal and system change in Western medicine as delivered in the United States.
