Schedule
Mon Sep 30 2024 at 09:00 am to 05:00 pm
UTC+10:00Location
Q Building, 16B Honeysuckle Drive, Newcastle NSW 2300 | Newcastle, NS
Local and international speakers will share the latest in research, policy, and practice – including a morning session on dementia and music (Bill Thompson, Bond University, QLD; Justin Christensen, University of Sheffield, UK) - followed by a talk on access to equity in creative brain health and presentations from creative practitioners and researchers in clowning, photography, dance and art.
The afternoon will include poster presentations; a session on becoming creative, led by Prof Julie Byles, AO; two hands-on workshops; and a final panel session.
There will be opportunities for participation throughout using drawing and digital technology. Ideas from the participation will be shared in the final panel and will help shape discussions around future directions.
This event provides an opportunity for attendees to share their experiences, to hear from researchers and practitioners, and to have conversations about how art and creativity can be used to transform the experience of ageing! The event will end with optional informal networking at a local restaurant (own cost).
As well as a performance by The Unforgettables, dementia inclusive choir, there will be two hands-on workshops.
