Beaux Arts celebrates 65 years of service and giving in Fort Lauderdale with �“Aged to Perfection” an evening of wine tastings and celebration on Monday, November 18 from 6-9pm at the NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale. Inspired by the Museum’s latest exhibition titled “The Mirror Stage” by artist Peter Halley. This immersive colorful exhibit highlights the artist’s use of repetitive geometric shapes “prisons” and digital media “explosions”.
“Aged to Perfection” is a celebration that will bring together over 150 of Fort Lauderdale’s movers and shakers: the business leaders, philanthropists, and visionary community builders, to enjoy wine, food, music and of course the incredible Peter Halley exhibit “The Mirror Stage”.
Since its inception, 65 years ago, Beaux Arts has raised more than 5 millions dollars for the NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale. A 501c-3 non profit made up of 75 members, Beaux Arts has a mission to encourage among young people and adults a more thorough understanding and appreciation of fine and applied arts.
Proceeds from “Aged to Perfection” will support NSU Art Museum’s educational programs Museum On the Move and Teen Art Council. Museum on the Move is an innovative education program that invites Broward County students grades 1-12 to experience NSU Art Museum at no cost to the student and school. The program enhances learning and increases engagement with the arts by involving students in stimulating tours of the Museum’s exhibitions and collections, hands-on art activities based on principles of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math), and 21st Century learning skills. Teen Art Council is a new program launched in January 2022 designed to create critical, customized space for teen representation and to provide teens the opportunity to collaborate with peers to plan events, investigate exhibitions and discover the inner workings of the museum, while placing them in a pipeline to colleges and careers in sectors that are woefully in need of well-trained applicants in a recovering economy. These careers include teaching, journalism, creative writing, museum administration, and hospitality and tourism. Arts education is an investment in the future of our communities. Americans for the Arts reports that exposure to the arts has been statistically proven to improve students overall academic performance, increase test scores, teach tolerance, build self-confidence, reduce dropout rates and develop skills needed by 21st century workforce including critical thinking, creative problem solving, effective communication and teamwork.
