About this Event

Afterglow centers on a new body of oil paintings by Morgan Serreno East depicting submerged figures illuminated by warmth and light. In response to the artwork, poets Marcus Amaker, Abby Duran, and Natasha Akery have created original poems that will be presented throughout the gallery and as audio recordings within the space layered with Amaker’s own music. Gordon Keiter, of Moonwave Film Co., has also produced a short film inspired by the paintings, creating a visual dialogue between still and moving images.
Opening Friday, August 14, from 5 pm to 9 pm, at Noble Studios in the Navy Yard. Additional viewing times include Saturday + Sunday, August 15 + 16 from 1 pm to 5 pm. Tickets are $10 each. There is an artist talk on Sunday from 12 pm to 1 pm and tickets are $18 each. All net proceeds will benefit Mental Health Heroes of Charleston.
