After5NewYork-The Dead Internet Theory: Are We The Last Real People Online?
About this Event
A Conversation on AI, Bots, and the Future of Human Connection Online
Join an AI leader, researcher and educator for The Dead Internet Theory: Are We The Last Real People Online?, a fascinating exploration of one of the internet’s most provocative modern theories. As artificial intelligence, automated bots, and algorithm-generated content become increasingly woven into our digital lives, many are asking a surprising question: How much of the internet is still driven by real human interaction?
Together, we’ll examine the origins of the Dead Internet Theory, why it has gained traction in recent years, and what it reveals about our growing dependence on AI-powered platforms. We’ll discuss the rise of synthetic content, the influence of recommendation algorithms, the role of bots in shaping online conversations, and how advances in generative AI are blurring the line between authentic and artificial engagement. Along the way, we’ll separate fact from fiction and explore what researchers, technologists, and everyday users are noticing about the evolving digital landscape.
This is not a conspiracy theory discussion. It’s a thought-provoking, interactive conversation about technology, trust, and the future of online communities. Whether you're a tech enthusiast, a curious professional, a creator navigating the digital world, or simply someone wondering who’s really on the other side of the screen, you’ll leave with a deeper understanding of how AI is transforming the internet and what that means for human connection.
