After5Chicago- Rediscovering the Power of Human Writing: Beyond the Bot
About this Event
A Conversation on Writing, Creativity, and the Power of Human Expression
Join writer, educator, and University English instructor for Rediscovering the Power of Human Writing: Beyond the Bot, an engaging exploration of what makes writing uniquely human in an age of AI-generated text, corporate jargon, and predictable phrasing. Together, we'll examine how language shapes the way we communicate, why familiar expressions can limit creativity, and how writers can develop a more distinctive voice. Through insights from literature, creative writing, and interactive exercises, we'll explore practical ways to challenge writing conventions, break free from habitual patterns, and express ideas with greater originality, clarity, and confidence.
What We'll Cover:
• Finding Your Unique Writing Voice - Explore the styles, techniques, and creative choices that make writing distinctive, and discover how writers have challenged conventions to reshape language and express their individuality.
• Breaking Free From Predictable Phrasing - Recognize the habits, clichés, and familiar expressions that can make writing feel generic, and learn how to move beyond default patterns to communicate more creatively.
• Rediscovering Authentic Human Expression - Experiment with language through interactive writing exercises and discover practical ways to make your words more original, engaging, and reflective of your own perspective.
Whether you're a writer, a student, a professional who communicates every day, or simply someone looking to express ideas more effectively, you'll leave with fresh perspectives and practical tools to make your writing more distinctive, engaging, and genuinely your own.
