After5Boston - Inside the Secret Sex Life of Bees
About this Event
A Conversation on Bees, Biology, and the Secret Life of the Hive
Join an evolutionary biologist and TEDx speaker for Inside the Secret Sex Life of Bees, an engaging exploration of the fascinating world of bee reproduction, mating behavior, and life inside the hive. Together, we'll uncover the surprising biology behind how bees find mates, reproduce, and pass on their genes and how these intimate behaviors play a critical role in the survival and success of the entire colony.
What We'll Cover:
• The world of bee reproduction - Explore how bees mate, reproduce, and pass on their genes, from queens and drones to the remarkable process of colony development.
• The science of bee behavior - Examine how genetics, pheromones, environment, and instinct influence the way bees find mates and interact with one another.
• Why bee sex matters to the hive - Understand how reproduction isn't just about creating the next generation, but is essential to the health, survival, and evolution of the entire colony.
Whether you're fascinated by insects, curious about animal behavior, or simply want to know what really happens inside a beehive, you'll leave with a whole new appreciation for the surprisingly complex, and sometimes unexpected, world of bees.
