Anguilla rostrata is a fish with a storied past and an uncertain future. For hundreds of years, the American eel has filled our fish traps, our plates, our datasets and a booming black market that spans the globe. Join us this evening as we talk about the history and life history of this fascinating species, about Batten School & VIMS contribution to monitoring effort and about our scientists’ participation in the effort to track down an eel smuggling ring that spanned the entire US East Coast.
🚪 Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with light refreshments available before the lecture begins at 7 p.m. in the Owens-Bryant Boardroom. Registration is required, and the lecture is intended for adult audiences. Register here: https://events.wm.edu/event/view/vims/373740
📍 Please note: This lecture will be held in person in Davis Hall on VIMS' Gloucester Point campus, not Watermen's Hall.
💻 Can't attend in person? A live-streamed webinar option will also be available.
