We’re honored to share AFSA will be hosting a 24-hour POW/MIA Recognition Event to honor and remember the brave service members who were Prisoners of War and those who are still Missing in Action. This is an opportunity for us to come together, pay tribute, and ensure these heroes are never forgotten.

When: 0800 on Sept 18 – 0800 on Sept 19
Where: Shellbank Outdoor Track (Langley AFB)

What is the POW/MIA Recognition Event?
This 24-hr event will include name reading of POW/MIA personnel and carrying the POW/MIA flag for 24 hours without stopping. Volunteers and participants will keep a continuous presence for the full 24 hours to symbolize that we will never stop seeking answers and honoring the sacrifice of these individuals.

Why it Matters:
-More than 81,000 Americans remain missing from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Cold War, and more recent conflicts.
-POW/MIA Recognition Day reminds us of our nation’s unwavering commitment to bring every missing service member home.
-Each name represents a life of courage, sacrifice, and dedication to our freedoms.

How can you Participate?
-Attend at any time during the 24 hours to show your support
-Sign up to volunteer for a shift for name reading, sign-in table, or running/walking (Links in attached flyer)
-Help spread the word

Your presence, whether for a few minutes or several hours, will make a difference in keeping their memory alive and supporting their families.

Let’s stand united in saying: “You Are Not Forgotten.”
