Arará dances come from West Africa (present-day Benin) and were brought to the Caribbean through the African diaspora, where they continue as a living cultural and spiritual practice.
In this workshop, we explore the energy of Afrekete, associated with love, beauty, sensuality, and abundance, expressed through movement and rhythm.
We also recognize the cultural connections of the Caribbean, where Afrekete may resonate with energies like Yemayá, especially through water and feminine expression, while honoring its unique roots.
