Join us on a tour walking through the Fashion District & Little Ethiopia Meeting point : Fashion Square 130 Pritchard St CBD

We begin in the Fashion District, that started out decades ago as the heart of the fabric industry. Today it is the home of the Fashion School where much of South Africa`s young talent begin their journey into the competitive world of Fashion.
A great opportunity to shop, get inspired and learn about African textiles.
Ishvara, has an extensive collection of African fabrics collected across Africa over the years..
His knowledge of African history, culture and design is extensive..
We will also explore the Nigerian & Congolese cloth shops
nearby that contribute to the African Renaissance and visit the traditional South African Shweshwe shops. We will also learn about African beadwork and other accessories.
The heart of Jozi is very colourful with fashions from across the African Continent ... Maasai Shukas.. Nigerian Ankaras... Ghanaian Kentes ... Venda candy stripes ... Xhosa Imibhaco ... Ethiopian handwoven cottons ... Nigerian Dashikis ... Swahili Kangas ... Mozambican Capulanas... Senegalese Damasques ...Congolese wax prints ... Shweshwe nostalgia and Tsonga luminous patterns.
The tour concludes in Little Ethiopia with a traditional coffee ceremony and we will learn about :
* Amharic language and culture...
* Orthodox Christianity .. and Ethiopian Jewish roots
* The impact of Ethiopian people in Johannesburg today
* Ethiopian food & spices

Secure parking is available along Pritchard St & Mooi St
along the Fashion District streets,
however taking an UBER is the best suggestion.
There are two security guards that accompany us for your safety along the walk.
Please note that most of the smaller shops only take cash -
and there are few ATMs or Credit Card Machines ......
