About this Event

African Diaspora Maritime, ADM, is excited to have you join them for an exciting press announcement. Doors open at 10:00AM and the press conference to begin at 10:30AM. Light breakfast and refreshments will be served. Parking will be available ($9 after validation) at the PMI garage across the street from the museum, located at 815 East Pratt Street (above Kaiser Permanente Baltimore Harbor Medical Center). They will be joined by special guests and have exclusive merchandise on display, all in support of ADM's mission:

• to participate in local, national, and international competitive sailing events and maritime activities, including, but not limited to the America’s Cup;

• to train young African-Americans as competitive race sailors;

• to teach the math and science behind hi-tech sailing as well as the role of African- Americans in maritime history; and

• to serve as a role model by raising awareness of sailing not only in the African-American community but also in America generally.

They aim to motivate, inspire, and teach problem solving and cooperation through the study of Maryland’s rich maritime history, and will offer a hands-on introduction to the high-tech sailing world of laminates, composites, velocity prediction programs, and computer-aided design. They aim to edify the mind and exhilarate the spirit while employing an exciting cost effective program with a broad scope. It will raise awareness of career opportunities in the maritime industry.
