Join us for a ribbon cutting and celebration of our African Diaspora Garden!
Saturday, August 23, 2025
2-4 p.m.
A new display in our Herb Garden honors the contributions of members of the African Diaspora to our state’s agriculture, food, technology, and medicine traditions.
Join us as we celebrate this space and remember Josie Walker, NCBG Foundation board member who was instrumental in the development of this project.
We’ll hear from a panel including Derek Haynes and Dr. Cynthia Greenlee about the history and impact African American communities have had on farming in our area.
Light refreshments will be provided, and we’ll have packs of heirloom collard seeds collected from the garden to give away!
