Come and join Djembe Alchemy and renowned Senegalese dancer Fodé Mané for a joyful and fun African dance workshop at Lake Macquarie. Accessible to all dance levels (beginner friendly), it’s sure to be a blast.
African dance is always accompanied by live drumming, which brings a special vibe to it. The dancers and drummers work together to challenge each other, drive creativity and take the whole group on an exciting journey of togetherness.
African dance allows participants to express themselves uniquely, within the context of the group dance, and is great for both new and experienced dancers. If you prefer free form dance styles, then African dance will give you some new arrows for your quiver, demonstrating the power and energy of group dance whilst still allowing for individual expression.
With 20+ years of experience performing and teaching African drumming and dance, we are lucky to have Fodé based in the Hunter region, bringing his exuberant dance, hypnotic enthusiasm and authentic African vibe.

Fodé spent twenty years travelling the globe as a performing artist before calling Australia home – which includes being a principal performer in Senegal’s leading dance and percussion troupe Bakalama de Thionck Essyl.
Since migrating to Australia, Fodé has spent many years captivating audiences with his energetic, passionate and spirited performances and has offered a unique service that is authentic, fun, educational and inspirational.
An incredible showman and performer, Fodé has entertained crowds at Major Australian Festivals and iconic venues such as Blues and Roots Festival Byron Bay, Peats Ridge Festival, The Sydney Opera House, The State Theatre, The Basement Sydney and many more.
