About this Event

Shaw is a historically black neighborhood. Come and discover the rich history of the people and places. Beginning at the Shaw library next to the metro we will experience the Carter G Woodson home and memorial park, the famous YMCA, the Whitelaw hotel, the home of Duke Ellington, and other sites. Along the way we share little known historical facts. The tour ends at the U Street Metro adjacent to the famous Ben's Chili Bowl and other food options.

If traveling by Metro get off at the Shaw/Howard U stop and exit via the R & 8th Street exit. The tour begins right in front of the Daniel T. Watha library.
