The African American Healthcare Summit will present a program focused on the racial disparity in the American Healthcare system. The African American population has been victimized by unequal treatment, resources, and critical care.
History records the U.S. government's experimentation on African Americans, such as the infamous "Tuskegee Experiment" conducted between 1932 and 1972 by the United States Public Health Service and the Centers for Disease Control. Those experiments, even though they were referred to as "studies," recklessly exposed young Black (Negro) males to the ravages of untreated Syphilis, leading to crippling permanent illness and even death for those unlucky enough to have participated in the program.
Although medical treatment for African Americans has significantly improved, they are still beset with unsustainable healthcare challenges, including basic access to healthcare, prejudicial treatment by healthcare professionals, etc.
The focus of the African American Healthcare Summit will be to identify resources, useful strategies, and other mechanisms to reduce racial bias and improve the quality of healthcare for African Americans, and people of color in the United States.
