Afghan & Syrian Art Workshop for Women & Children
About this Event
Join us for a welcoming and creative art workshop inspired by the rich visual traditions of Afghanistan and Syria. Through painting on canvas and wooden panels, participants will explore traditional patterns, colours, and symbols while creating a personal artwork that reflects their own story, memories, and identity.
This workshop is designed especially for Afghan and Syrian communities and is warmly open to everyone. No previous art experience is needed.
During the session, we will look at the beauty of Afghan geometric motifs, embroidery-inspired designs, and Syrian floral and ornamental patterns, drawing inspiration from cultural heritage and everyday life. Participants will learn simple painting techniques and create their own unique artwork on canvas or wood, combining traditional elements with personal expression.
Together, we will explore themes of belonging, home, journeys, family traditions, and cultural identity through colour, pattern, and creativity.
In this relaxed and supportive workshop, you will be able to:
- Create your own painted canvas or wooden artwork
- Discover traditional Afghan and Syrian artistic motifs
- Share stories and cultural memories through art
- Learn simple painting and decorative techniques
- Connect with others in a welcoming community setting
- Develop confidence through creative expression
A special opportunity:
Selected artworks created during the workshop may be included in a community exhibition or display, celebrating the diverse voices, stories, and cultures of participants.
This workshop offers a meaningful chance to:
- Celebrate Afghan and Syrian cultural heritage
