Sacramento Housing Alliance (SHA) invites you to join us for the 2023 Affordable Housing Call to Action on December 7, 2023 to get our partners and allies ready for the coming year. This event is unlike our past SHA summits. Our members tell us they are ready to come together for coalition building and deeper discussion on how to facilitate more affordable housing in Sacramento.
The 2023 Call to Action will be an opportunity for affordable housing advocates, elected officials, local government agencies, community-based organizations, developers and financial institutions to share and learn best practices to address opposition, support new initiatives for accessing available resources, get the facts on the realities of homelessness and proven policies to address it, and create language for effective housing campaigns.
The 2023 Call to Action will be held on December 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the KVIE Studios community room at 2030 W. El Camino Blvd. We expect 120 attendees to participate in these important conversations.
Keynote speaker Dr. Margot Kushel, director of the UCSF Benioff Homelessness and Housing Initiative (BHHI), will share the results of America’s most comprehensive study of the causes and consequences of homelessness in California to date, as well as recommended policy changes for successfully addressing it. Dr Kushel’s research undermines typical stereotypes of people without homes. This is a perfect opportunity to be inspired by evidence-based practice and scalable solutions based on work informed by people with lived experience.
For over 30 years the Sacramento Housing Alliance has advocated for safe, stable, accessible, and affordable homes in the Sacramento region. This 2023 Call to Action reflects our continuing commitment to build healthy communities through education, leadership, and policy change.
