This workshop invites students to explore creative expression on the apparatus of their choice. We’ll focus on finding unique movement pathways, musicality, and personal style through guided improvisation and exercises. Together, we’ll work on breaking out of creative routines and exploring fresh approaches to familiar skills, all while building a short sequence inspired by each student’s unique movement style. This workshop is perfect for those looking to deepen their artistic expression and connect more with their apparatus. Prerequisites: Ability to comfortably and repeatedly mount and dismount your apparatus. As a general guide CW students who have been consistently attending basics for over 6 months and any Level 1 students and above are encouraged to attend!
Vertical Dynamics
This workshop will explore a dynamic style of movement on vertical apparatus like rope and silks. "Dynamics" here goes beyond beats and high-level tricks; it’s about the way you move. We’ll cover techniques such as lever beats, catcher switches, dramatic footlock entrances, knee beats for climbing, and even Russian wraps, with adjustments based on skill level and class energy. Conditioning exercises designed specifically for these movements will also be included to strengthen your technique and control. Prerequisites: Ability to aerial invert helpful, ability to invert from ground needed.
