Advancing Justice40: Leveraging Climate & Energy Investments in a Post-Biden-Harris Administration
Montravias King, State Director of the Sierra Club South Carolina Chapter
For the first time in our nation’s history, the Federal government has made it a goal that 40 percent of the overall benefits of certain Federal climate, clean energy, affordable and sustainable housing, and other investments flow to disadvantaged communities that are marginalized by underinvestment and overburdened by pollution. President Biden made this historic commitment when he signed Executive Order 14008 on Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad within days of taking office.
This talk will evaluate the efficacy of Justice40 in leveraging public-private partnerships to create a greater impact.
King's mission is not just a professional goal but a personal passion. He is dedicated to ensuring that disinvested communities, often the hardest hit by the climate crisis, can unlock, navigate, and leverage the benefits of the historic influx of climate and clean energy investments. He aims to help these communities reimagine a more equitable, resilient, and sustainable world, a mission that drives his work and underscores his commitment to conservation and environmental justice.
