Advanced Performance Competition February 2026

The Advanced Performance Competition offers advanced level Piano students (Levels RCM 9 and above) the opportunity to perform for some of Canada’s top adjudicators.

1. Students will choose a piece and record themselves playing the piece.
2. Students MUST state they are auditioning for Advanced Performance Class, and introduce their name, title of piece, composer, and date of filming in their audition video. Introductions and auditions must be in one continuous clip with no cuts allowed.
3. The recorded video audition will be uploaded to YouTube. The YouTube link will be sent to [email protected]
4. Remember to purchase a "Student Video Audition" on Eventbrite and complete the form.

For the upcoming deadline of February 7th, the audition video should have been recorded no earlier than January 7th.

Auditions have a time limit of 9 minutes, except by special written request.

Students who pass the audition are invited to perform and be adjudicated by renowned concert pianists, university performance professors and artistic directors.

Performance invitations will be sent out to winning students one week prior to performance with invitations to perform in person.

UP TO 8 STUDENTS PER EVENT WILL BE INVITED TO PERFORM AT THE LIVE CONCERT AND RECEIVE LIVE ADJUDICATION.

Concert begins at 6 pm. Students will perform back to back and will be given comments by the adjudicator at the end of the concert.

Marks are given for each performance and at the end of the year, scholarship money, trophies and solo performance opportunities are awarded to the students with the top marks throughout the year!

March 21 - Kyoko Hashimoto (Concerto Competition, March 7 registration deadline)

Location: In-person at Steinway Piano Gallery Ottawa - 1481 Innes Road

Format: Audition is by video application which must be uploaded to YouTube with a link.
