This course is designed for law enforcement officers and armed security professionals seeking to enhance their handgun proficiency beyond foundational skills. Advanced Handgun for Patrol focuses on practical, real-world application of firearms techniques that officers are likely to encounter in the field.Participants will begin with a comprehensive skills evaluation to assess current proficiency and identify areas for improvement. From there, instruction will build on core fundamentals while introducing advanced techniques to improve speed, accuracy, and decision-making under stress.
Key areas of instruction include:
Efficient reloading techniques, and malfunction correction
Unconventional shooting positions, including seated, prone, supine, and other improvised positions
Shooting on the move, emphasizing balance, target tracking, and accuracy
Vehicle-based engagements, including shooting in proximity to vehicles while utilizing available cover
This course emphasizes officer survivability, adaptability, and performance in dynamic environments. Training will incorporate both static and movement-based drills, pushing students to operate effectively under realistic conditions.
Prerequisites: Law Enforcement and Licensed Armed Security only. Students should have a solid understanding of basic handgun safety and marksmanship.
Recommended Equipment: Duty handgun, holster, minimum of 300 rounds of ammunition, and standard duty gear.
This is a performance-driven course designed to challenge experienced shooters and prepare them for the realities of armed encounters in patrol and security operations.
