This 18-hour Advanced Musculoskeletal (MSK) Training is designed for yoga teachers who want to bridge the gap between anatomy knowledge and real-world application. Rather than viewing the body as a collection of isolated parts, this training explores the MSK system as an integrated, responsive network that supports movement, stability, and resilience.
You will learn how bones, joints, muscles, and connective tissues work together during movement, and how factors like load, repetition, habit, and environment influence what we see in the body. This is where anatomy becomes practical, observable, and deeply relevant to teaching.
We will explore biomechanics through the lens of variability rather than perfection, helping you move away from rigid alignment cues and toward more adaptable, individualized approaches. You will also develop a clearer understanding of common musculoskeletal presentations in yoga spaces, and how to respond with greater confidence and nuance.
This training is not about “fixing” bodies. It is about learning how to read them, support them, and work with them more intelligently.
What you will learn:
• Functional anatomy of the musculoskeletal system, including bones, joints, muscles, and connective tissues
• How force is transferred through the body during movement (load, tension, compression, and shear)
• Foundational biomechanics and how they apply to yoga postures and transitions
• The role of variability, adaptation, and individual structure in movement
• Common compensation patterns and how they show up in practice
• An introduction to frequently seen musculoskeletal conditions in yoga spaces (e.g. low back pain, shoulder irritation, knee sensitivity)
• How to modify and adapt practices based on presentation rather than diagnosis
• The relationship between mobility, stability, strength, and control
• Why “good alignment” is not one-size-fits-all
• How to observe movement with more clarity and make informed teaching choices
• Language and cueing that supports exploration instead of restriction
This training includes:
• Applied movement labs and embodied exploration
• Functional anatomy and biomechanics theory
• Case-based discussions and real-life scenarios
• Observation and assessment practice
• Teaching methodology and integration
• Opportunities to experiment, question, and refine your approach
By the end of this training, participants will leave with a more grounded, adaptable understanding of the musculoskeletal system, along with practical tools to assess movement, respond to what they see, and support a wider range of bodies with confidence.
