COVID Information and Event FAQs

How is Lincoln Park Zoo handling COVID-19?

Safety first. Our policies and procedures are designed to enhance the safety of our guests and staff, as well as the animals in our care. In addition to zoo staff making regular rounds to clean and disinfect all public areas, here are our COVID safety measures*:

  • All guests must wear a face covering in all indoor areas, and outdoors when not able to maintain six feet between your party and others.
  • Most food, drink, and retail venues will be open. Food venues may be serving a limited menu or grab-and-go items to minimize risk.
  • Credit cards are preferred for all payment transactions.
  • All staff are required to wear PPE, and the zoo is increasing the frequency of cleaning high-touch areas.
  • Hand sanitizer stations will be available at the East and West Gates. Guests may also wash their hands at the restrooms at Regenstein Macaque Forest and the East Gate.

*As a reminder, an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and guests with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. By visiting Lincoln Park Zoo, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.

What parts of the zoo will be open, and will I see animals?

Adults Night Out will take place throughout Lincoln Park Zoo's buildings and grounds. Plan for buildings to be closed; however, depending on City and State COVID guidelines, some buildings may be open (just like during our regular daytime hours).

Animals that live at Lincoln Park Zoo always have the choice to be indoors or out, in view of the public or not. This is a zoo policy that promotes positive animal welfare. We hope many animals will choose to be outside, but they may choose to spend their evening indoors. Make sure to stop by animal habitats when they’re receiving enrichment (the schedule will be in your online program) for the highest likelihood of great animal viewing!
