Step into the world of decorative metalwork in this hands-on workshop inspired by Decadent Spirit: French Art at the Turn of the Century. Begin with a guided visit to the exhibition and discover how artists used elaborate surfaces and ornamentation to convey mood, texture, and emotion.
Then in GRAM Studio, you’ll be introduced to traditional French metalworking techniques: repoussé (“pushed back,” forming designs by working from the reverse side) and ciselure (“chasing,” refining details from the front). Using thin sheets of metal and basic tools, you’ll combine these techniques to craft your own embossed artwork, experimenting with line, shape, and richly textured surfaces inspired by the period’s decorative style.
No experience necessary.
