About this Event

This course is for adults 18 and over. You must be a Texas resident. If you have experienced a recent trauma or loss to suicide it is advisable to attend MHFA at a later date.

YBe prepared to support the adults in your community when it matters most.

Mental health challenges can affect anyone, and friends, family members, coworkers, neighbors, and fellow community members are often the first to notice when someone may be struggling. Adult Mental Health First Aid (AMHFA) teaches you how to recognize the signs of mental health and substance use challenges, respond with confidence, and connect someone to appropriate support.

In this interactive, evidence-based course, you'll learn:

  • Common signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges in adults
  • How to respond to someone experiencing a mental health crisis
  • The 5-step Mental Health First Aid Action Plan (ALGEE)
  • How to provide support while encouraging appropriate professional help and self-care

Whether you're a family member, faith leader, employer, volunteer, or simply someone who wants to make a difference, you'll leave this course with practical skills you can use to support the people around you.

This course is offered at no cost through the generous support of our community partners. Registration is required, and space is limited.

Together, we can build a stronger, more compassionate community—one conversation at a time.

This Adult Mental Health First Aid course is delivered in a in-person format and includes three required components:

1. Pre-Course Survey
A quick check of your knowledge and opinions about mental health prior to the course.

2. Live Instructor-Led Training
Attend the session on Sept. 3. The session includes interactive discussions, skill-building activities, short breaks, and a lunch. Active participation is required throughout the course.

3. Post-Course Requirements
Following the live session, participants must complete a brief survey, course evaluation, and final exam to receive certification.

CEUs will be provided!
