Mental Health First Aid is a skills-based training course that teaches participants about mental health and substance abuse issues.

COVID protocol

  • COVID screening upon arrival to include temperature check, sign in forms, medical questions
  • Classroom will be arranged to maintain social distancing
  • Masks will be required for the duration of the training

IDENTIFY - UNDERSTAND - RESPOND

Mental Health First Aid empowers individuals to identify, understand and respond to risk factors and warning signs of mental health and addiction concerns. Participants also learn:

  • a 5-step action plan to help someone developing a mental health problem or someone in crisis
  • where to turn for support - professional, peer and self-help
  • topics covered include depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, addiction disorders

The course also teaches about recovery and resiliency – the belief that individuals experiencing these challenges can and do get better, and use their strengths to stay well.

Participants earn a three-year certification upon completion.

Please park in the front or on the sides of the building and enter through the main front entrance. At the reception desk, you will stop for a brief COVID screening.
