This 3-day training will include comprehensive training on the Autism and Diagnostic Observation Schedule, 2nd Edition (ADOS-2) with instructional methods including lectures, videos, demonstrations of administration, and scoring, in addition to a third day designed to support education teams, and professionals, related to creating meaningful educational goals from assessment results.

This unique training opportunity will provide support, clarification, and practice for ASD evaluation teams. We are encouraging teams to send 1-3 staff to the ADOS-2 training (Day 1 & 2), who are likely to administer the assessment, and then have all members of their ASD diagnostic and/or IEP teams attend Day 3 to learn how to better support their learners with ASD following an evaluation.

Day 1 & 2 ADOS-2 Assessment

(Wednesday, October 9 & Thursday, October 10, 2024, 8:30a-4:30p lunch will be provided):

The ADOS-2 is viewed as the “gold standard” for observational assessment of ASD. Participants will look in-depth into the scoring and coding of the ADOS-2, Modules 1-4, analyze ASD diagnostic criteria and discuss how the ADOS-2 is used to assess for an autism diagnosis. Participants will have the opportunity to practice scoring while observing the administration of the ADOS-2 by national trainers, followed by an in-depth discussion. The goal of Day 1 & 2 is to provide a detailed overview of the ADOS-2, its development, its psychometric properties, and appropriate use and interpretation. Cost: $300

Optional Learning Lab (Wednesday, October 9 & Thursday, October 10, 2024, 4:30p-5:30p): Center for Disabilities’ staff will be available for participants to stay and practice with assessment materials and receive support and feedback. No additional registration required.

*Participants need to bring their own ADOS-2 Manual to the training to reference throughout (a limited number of manuals will be available for check-out during the training).

**Participants are strongly encouraged to read through and become familiar with the manual prior to Day 1 & 2 to gain the most from the training. Participants should have some working knowledge of the ADOS-2 assessment, otherwise they may be overwhelmed with the pace of this training.

***A Level C qualification is required to administer the ADOS-2, please refer to the WPS website for more information https://ecom-cdn.wpspublish.com/prod/media/content-wps/QualificationGuidelines.pdf
