About this Event
In this 2.5 hour workshop, limited to 6 people, we will achieve the goal of recording a 60 second audio story in the AV lab using available equipment and software.
We will learn the following in software and hardware:
· How to set up the microphone on the digital audio interface
· Basics of navigating Adobe Audition
· Basics of level setting
· How to record a monophonic spoken word piece
· Basic editing, effects application, and exporting an audio file
We will learn the following in room setup, voiceover basics, storytelling word count and pauses, and microphone usage
· Getting your voice ready to record
· Body position and basic breathwork for recording voice
· Mic pop screen
· Learn about sibilants and how to reduce them in voiceover recording https://www.linkedin.com/advice/0/how-can-you-reduce-sibilance-your-voiceover-recording

· The amount of words one can realistically record in one minute
Prerequisites: None
Come to class with:
· A printed “story” that you can tell in under 1 minute
· A piece of music (in MP3 or WAV format) to use for your recording on a thumb drive or in your lab shared network folder
At the end of class, you will have a 60 second story (or if we pair up, each pair will have one 90 second story) to share, if you want, on the lab slack channel or to whomever you want.
