Adirondack Regional Theatre returns this winter with a live radio play version of the perennial Dickens’ classic tale, “A Christmas Carol” – a play to delight the young and old alike full of festive feeling, ghostly encounters, hardship and redemption. Performances are December 13 and 14, 7:30pm at Plattsburgh’s Strand Center Theatre. You’ve never experienced Charles Dickens’s holiday classic quite like this. Five WBFR Radio Players bring to life scores of Victorian characters from Old London Town, live sound effects, vintage commercial breaks, and musical underscore to create an authentic 1940s radio experience, all in front of a live studio audience.
“A Christmas Carol” is a classic story of redemption that has been adapted by Joe Landry, an award-winning playwright, with music by Kevin Conners. The action happens in the audience’s mind, as the entire play is created without costume changes, set changes, or actors moving about the stage. The vitality of the story is in the
hearing rather than the seeing. Three ghosts take Ebenezer Scrooge on a thrilling journey to teach him the true meaning of Christmas. This show is family-friendly and for all ages!
The cast features beloved North Country actors: Bill McColgan, Neil Battinelli, Brenda Chase McColgan, Andrew Ducharme, and Gina Lindsay. Lisa Skarling performs Live Music, and Jonathan Berry will be the foley (sound effects) artist.
“A Christmas Carol: a live radio play” is a charming take on a family favorite that will leave no one saying "Bah Humbug!," and a wonderful addition to your holiday celebrations!
