Adelphi Orchestra - Shostakovich@150

Join the Adelphi Orchestra for an unforgettable concert celebrating the 150th birthday of Dmitri Shostakovich presented by the Ramapo College School of Contemporary Arts. Under the direction of conductor Kyunghun Kim the evening will open with the world premiere of Between the Suns composed by Gilad Cohen. This orchestration of Cohen's award-winning Ten Variations is set to captivate the audience with its rich textures and innovative themes.

The program continues with Carl Maria von Weber’s Concerto for Clarinet No. 2 in E-flat major Op. 74. Clarinetist Kingsley Hsieh will bring this beloved work to life with his virtuosity and expressive playing offering a dazzling interpretation of one of the finest pieces in the clarinet repertoire.

The night will culminate with Dmitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 1 in F minor Op. 10. Written when the composer was just 19 years old this symphony showcases Shostakovich’s early genius and foreshadows the brilliance that would define his later works. Full of dramatic contrasts and vivid orchestration this piece remains a cornerstone of 20th-century symphonic music.
