Understanding and supporting male survivors of sexual violence.
About this Event

Male victims of sexual assault are often misunderstood, overlooked, and underrepresented—despite research showing that 1 in 6 men will experience sexual abuse or assault in their lifetime. Stigma, cultural expectations, and harmful myths can make it especially difficult for male survivors to disclose their experiences or seek support.

This training explores the unique dynamics male victims face, including barriers to reporting, the impact of shame and societal messaging, and the ways trauma may present differently in boys and men. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how to recognize signs of abuse, respond in supportive and trauma-informed ways, and create environments where male survivors feel believed, validated, and supported.

The session challenges common misconceptions and equips attendees with practical tools to better advocate for and support male victims with compassion, awareness, and confidence.

Audience:
Professionals working with children and families, caregivers, and any adult who cares about the protection and well-being of children.

Cost:
Free to the community. Registration required.
