What is trauma and why does it matter in a child and teen's day to day life?In addition to life threatening trauma events, trauma can also be the cumulative impact of events that exceed our capacity to cope and cause a disruption in emotional functioning. While not inherently life threatening, these distressing events can leave the individual feeling overwhelmed and uncertain, which has a consequential negative impact across different areas including their academic, social and emotional life, whether at school, home or other environments.
During our one-day conference, we will work with parents, classroom teachers, counselors, and school leaders to better understand, identify and effectively address trauma-related concerns.
