In 2025, approximately 70,000 Israelis emigrated from Israel. Unlike earlier waves driven mainly by material concerns, this movement is often framed as an ethical response to political, social, and military unrest, and as an effort to cultivate an authentic Hebrew life in the diaspora. Exile is recast not as a Jewish perversion, but as a legitimate and even desirable condition.
Adam Coman grew up in Tel Aviv and later lived in Krakow and Bucharest before settling in Prague, where he has resided for the past twelve years. He holds a doctorate in historical sociology and teaches at Charles University’s Herzl Center for Israel Studies. He has published a novel and regularly contributes essays and short stories in Hebrew.
