Ad van Aart: compositions performed on self-made instruments and objects

Ad van Aart is a visual artist and sound artist. He uses less obvious materials for a sculptor. At thrift shops, he collects the most diverse materials that inspire him to create spatial objects and installations. In recent years, 'sound' has become an extra dimension in his work. Initially, small mechanically driven sound objects were created. At a certain point, Ad got a number of organ pipes at his disposal with which he started building larger sculptures. This resulted in a whole series of sound sculptures with organ pipes and blowing vacuum cleaners. A large part of the work is made in such a way that the public can operate or play the works themselves. With this series of sound objects, supplemented with other creations such as drum machines or automatic glockenspiel, Ad van Aart creates interactive exhibitions. For him they are still sculptures in which sound has become an extra dimension.
