About this Event
Students from NCAD's Art in the Contemporary (ACW) World Master's programme host a thesis launch event at the Pumphouse a former graving dock and the site of current Temple Bar Gallery + Studios exhibitions Longest Way Round, Shortest Way Home. The evening will be a presentation of a 'cultural heterotopia' where the students from the class of 2024 will read excerpts from their research topics in this heterotopic space.
The project themes assimilate to the port and the exhibition, interrogating art and its place within the context of the future, AI, horror and war, drawing parallels with the work of exhibiting artists Yuri Pattison and Liliane Puthod.
With readings from Aibhlin Clabby, Amber Coen Collins, John Graham, Marina Leganowska, Siún Nic Suibhne, and Inka Rumniak.
ACW provides a broad student-led approach to the study of contemporary art practice and discourse. The programme offers an opportunity for focused engagement with the varied challenges of today’s most ambitious art, bridging the relationship between theory and practice by creating exciting study options for artists, curators and writers.
This event is supported by Free Space at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios. Free Space creates opportunities for artists to access space in the city for peer learning, artist exchanges, project development and presentations.
