Study Day Learning Outcomes

• Apply the principles of initiating, assessing and caring for BCYP’s requiring non-invasive ventilation (NIV), including interpretation of prescriptions, modes, settings, patient-ventilator synchrony, and respiratory assessment findings.
• Demonstrate evidence-based nursing care for BCYP’s receiving NIV by promoting comfort, maintaining skin integrity, supporting nutrition, and implementing safe airway clearance and secretion management strategies.
• Evaluate patient response to NIV and collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team to initiate referrals, escalate or de-escalate respiratory support, and contribute to safe, family-centred care.
