Acts Housing is Opening Doors
When Acts Housing President/CEO Michael Gosman last visited us in 2023, Acts had just launched the Opening Doors Campaign with an ambitious goal: raise $26.4 million to expand homeownership opportunities for low and moderate-income families. On March 11, 2026, Acts Housing announced that it had achieved that goal.
Acts Housing provides a comprehensive pathway to homeownership through financial and homebuyer education, mortgage lending, real estate services, home rehabilitation coaching, and the creation of affordable housing inventory. Over the past three decades, Acts has helped nearly 4,500 families build more than $143 million in equity.
One of those families is Daron and Nahona Moore, who you'll hear more about at the event. Reflecting on their journey to homeownership, they shared, "Homeownership symbolizes freedom and the breaking of generational curses."
The Moores' story reflects what happens when families are met with opportunity and a community that believes in them.
The completion of the Opening Doors Campaign is more than a fundraising milestone - it's about changing the trajectory of who gets to participate in the wealth and stability that homeownership creates. Acts Housing is now positioned over the next decade to convert more than 1,000 low-quality rentals into affordable homes and provide more than $140 million in mortgage lending.
The result will be thousands of children growing up in homes their families own, equity built instead of rent paid, and strengthening neighborhoods across Milwaukee.
