$250/per student
An 8-week workshop to add Shakespeare to your toolbox for those not traditionally represented in American Shakespeare productions. Whether you’re brand new to Shakespeare or well-versed and want to explore a new character, this workshop is for you.
This 8-week class aims to get actors familiar and comfortable with the text, combined with a conversation on why Shakespeare is relevant to us today. Created with our East by Southeast cohort in mind, we'll start by identifying our personal and cultural connections with Shakespeare's language, characters, and plays. Then, participants will be given monologues or scenes or asked to bring in something that resonates with them to work on. By the end, participants should feel like they have access to new tools and more avenues for performance.
Open to all levels of familiarity with Shakespeare. This is not an intro to acting class. Some formal training or experience expected.
East by Southeast wants to see more diversity on the American stage. By offering this class, our hope is to provide our members with an opportunity to further their craft while celebrating the unique perspectives of the AAPI experience.
