Active Streets: Corazón del Valle | Exploratory Ride

This family-friendly bike ride will begin at the Jeff Seymour Family Center in El Monte and take participants on a behind-the-scenes look at the newest Active Streets route, Corazón-del-Valle, presented by Metro, hosted by SGVCOG, and brought to you by your friends at ActiveSGV!

During our 9 mile journey we’ll traverse the very first bike lane in the City of El Monte, visit verdant Arceo and Mary Van Dyke parks, and learn about ongoing efforts to improve each community’s urban forest, create more green space, realize safer, more complete streets! 

On the way back to the JSFC, we will make a special stop at Cyber Yogurt for their award-winning acai, frozen yogurt, smoothies, and other tasty treats, so make sure to bring a few dollars or a CC if you’d like to purchase something. While we’re there we’ll also raffle off some gift cards to this family-owned, bike-friendly business!

This ride is BYOB (bring your own bike)! E-bikes are welcome. We expect a select number of GoSGV bikes will be made available for this ride. Stay tuned for details on that!

Pre-registration is required for all participants. If you are attending with other family members, each person must be registered separately to attend. Register now to guarantee your spot!

Start/Finish Location: Jeff Seymour Family Center, 10900 Mulhall St., El Monte 91731

Route: Approx 9 miles, slightly downhill and then uphill.

Timeline (subject to change):

9:00 AM - 9:30 AM - Sign in to get those raffle tickets!

9:30 AM - Roll out from Jeff Seymour Family Center 

11:15 AM - RAFFLE at Cyber Yogurt!

12:00 PM - Return to Jeff Seymour Family Center

Parking: Plenty of parking on the street

Experience Level: Beginner / Intermediate—We will be riding on shared roads with mixed traffic at a pace of 10-12MPH, with gradual elevation gain.

What to Bring:

-A functional bicycle or wheeled device (highly recommended with gears)

-A helmet is required if under 18

-Water Bottle (with water)

-Bike lock (If you plan to stay longer)

-Additional cash/credit to purchase food & drinks

-Bikes with training wheels are not permitted, but children are welcome to attend if pulled in a trailer or on-bike child seat
