Library Walk community event invites Nashuans to share their storiesNASHUA — From 11 am-1 pm Saturday, August 23, the City of Nashua’s Department of Economic Development invites residents to celebrate the grand opening of the newly transformed Library Walk downtown.
Located adjacent to 100 Main Street, between businesses Break Free Escape Games and the Nashua Telegraph, the Library Walk alleyway has been used to connect Main Street with Court Street, for those walking to the Nashua Public Library. It has been reimagined as a vibrant public space with new overhead lighting, art, reading-inspired seating created by local makerspace MakeIt Labs, and other features that make it more welcoming for all.
As pedestrians walk up the alleyway towards Court Street, a vibrant new mural by local artist Quest Nine is visible directly aligned with the Library Walk, on the Court Street Theatre wall, celebrating the imagination-building gifts of childhood reading.
The August 23 event will feature food, music and games, along with a series of interactive stations where residents can share ideas for potential public space improvements in other parts of the city. These activities are designed to spark community imagination and help guide future enhancements to Nashua’s shared spaces.
A professional video crew will also be on-site to capture stories from community members as part of a new civic pride initiative. Residents will be invited to answer questions like “How has Nashua shaped you?” and “What story should Nashua write for its future?” — contributing their voices to a citywide portrait of Nashua’s people and dreams.
“The new and improved Library Walk is a great example of how small public spaces can be transformed into something special,” said Liz Hannum, Director of Economic Development for the city. “We’re excited to celebrate this space and hear ideas from our community about what’s possible in other parts of Nashua.”
This event is free and open to all.
