Acting for Beginners

Frankfurt English Speaking Theatre e.V. (FEST) presents this unique beginning actor's course.

Have you always wanted to give acting a try, but weren’t sure how to start, or were apprehensive about getting started? Did you always wonder what it would take to prepare and perform on stage? Have you been on stage once or twice, but would really like to work on the basics again so that you can improve your next performance and develop as an actor?

The Acting for Beginners course will introduce you to all the basic skills and techniques you need take on a role, develop the character, properly prepare for the performances and then perform confidently on stage. The course is designed for beginners with no experience, or those who have had one or two small roles and want to further develop their skills.

Mock auditions

Character analysis and development

Movement and voice

Relaxation, concentration, presence, and warm–up techniques

The rehearsal process

Acting a text

Technical rehearsal, Opening Night, Stage and theatre protocols

This course will take place on six Thursday evenings from January 20 to February 24, in–person sessions in Frankfurt. The sessions will be a combination of theory, exercises and practical application of techniques, including preparing and acting several scenes.

Dates: January 20, 27; February 3, 10, 17, 24, 2022

Times: 7 pm to 9:30 pm

Venue: Saalbau Gallus

Cost: 100 € FEST members / 125 € non-members*

The cost is for all 6 evenings. It is not possible to attend just one evening. When registering, simply select January 20th and you'll be registered for all sessions!

Instructor: Jeff Book

The course will take place with a minimum of 3 participants and a maximum of 6 participants. The in–person sessions will be in compliance with all COVID restrictions and regulations. At present, this means 2G.

*All proceeds from the course fee go back to FEST and the FEST Academy, in order to support future training and productions.
