Athens Community Theatre (ACT) is pleased to present the family favorite, based on the beloved children’s book by Jeff Kinney, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, directed by Michael Webb.

Leading the cast is ACT alum, Cooper Howard, as Greg. He is joined by fellow ACT regulars Emily Duggan, as Fregley; Kelly Borwick, as Fregley’s mom and Greg’s mom; Tyler Peaden as Greg’s dad; Emma Stratton, as Joshie; Holland Borwick, as Claire; Sophia Lauterbach, as Patty Farrell; Devin Arnwine, as Yvette; Trinity Riedel, as Pauline; Zoe Randolph, as Lionel James; Jimmy Jacobs, as Bill Walters, Mr, Underwood, and Mr. Huff; Tyler Jacobs, as Bryce Anderson; Ander King, as Manny; Amelia Lauterbach and Ella Rose Jacobs, as Kindergarteners; and Cashton McConkey, Chloe Harrison, and Rowan Powers, as Teen Hooligans.
Making their ACT debut are Samuel Warren, as Rowley; Cooper Delph, as Rodrick; Jaren Riedel, as Chirag; Sean McCracken, as Chris Hosey and Charlie David; as well as Carl Mason Sumner, Ava Hall, Ian Morales, Zaida Gilliard, as Kindergarteners.
The ensemble includes newcomers Alice Tumlin, Erabella Williams, Greer Hester, Isabella Gomez, Karrington Dills, and Keely Kessler. They are joined by ACT alums Andi Moses, Georgia Sumner, Lauren Duggan, Mia Duggan, and Tallulah Borwick.
Cooper Delph, Emma Stratton, Tyler Jacobs, and Jimmy Jacobs are the band “Loded Diper.”
Jeff Kinney’s popular character takes center stage as Greg’s cartoon diary becomes a hilarious and heartfelt musical. According to Greg, middle school is…ugh. It’s the worst. But Greg is determined not to be at the bottom of the popularity chart. He’ll leave that to his weird neighbor, Fregley. Or maybe Greg’s best friend, Rowley Jefferson. But it’s not going to be Greg…no way.
The Saturday August 2 performance features a PTO Bake Sale: “Cookies & Characters” starting at 6:30 PM. Patrons can purchase cookies and mingle with the cast before the show. Prices for ACT tickets range from $15 to $25.
Patrons are encouraged to purchase tickets early, as ACT events tend to sell out on, or before, the performance date. Tickets for Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Musical go on sale June 21.
Athens Community Theatre Mainstage offers patrons musical and straight play productions with larger or multigenerational casts, and family-friendly or classic repertoire. All ACT Mainstage productions are presented exclusively in the Sue E. Trotter Black Box Theatre at The Arts Center.
