Painting Textures in Acrylics with a Palette KnifeThis workshop is an exploration of making painterly textures with a palette knife using acrylic paints and heavy body molding paste. We will go over basics while painting practice fall leaves. Then you can move on to your own reference photo or bring a small still life arrangement to try out something new. The same techniques can be used with oils and Dorland’s wax, but this particular class is for acrylics only as the instructor has breathing problems and oil paints can be an irritant.
Materials to bring
Tubes of acrylic paints of your choice
Two sizes of painting knives
Your choice of brushes for a varied look
Jar of heavy body molding paste
References
Your usual accessories such as paper towels, water container, etc.
Also a primed canvas board or gesso board
*Do not use stretched canvas or your thick paint may peel off as it gives with the weather
Small matt board pieces and photos of leaves will be provided to practice with.
