This class outlines an immersive, entry-level hydroponics certification course designed to introduce students to the future of urban farming. By merging the community leadership of the Acres Home Chamber with the technical expertise of The Metallic Sunflower Foundation, we offer a hands-on curriculum that transforms students from observers into growers.

THE SYSTEMS (Included for every student)

Each participant will receive and learn to operate the three pillars of hydroponic technology:

• DWC (Deep Water Culture): The foundation of water-based growing.

• NFT (Nutrient Film Technique): High-efficiency commercial leaf production.

• RFT (Root Film Technique): Advanced nutrient delivery for rapid growth.

COURSE CURRICULUM: THE GROW TO GLOW INTENSIVE

Duration: 5.5 Hours (5 Hours Instruction + 30-Minute Break)

0:00 – 1:00 | Session 1: The Science of Liquid Soil

• Biological basics: photosynthesis vs. nutrient uptake.

• Water chemistry: pH balancing and EC (Electrical Conductivity) management.

1:00 – 2:30 | Session 2: System Architecture & Assembly (Hands-on)

• Unboxing and building the DWC, NFT, and RFT systems.

• Plumbing, aeration, and pump maintenance.

2:30 – 3:00 | INTERMISSION (Catered Break)

3:00 – 4:30 | Session 3: Seed-to-Harvest Management

• Seed starting, cloning, and transplanting.

• Nutrient dosing schedules and troubleshooting common pests/deficiencies.

4:30 – 5:30 | Session 4: Economics & Community Impact

• The business of urban farming: Scalability and local food security.

• Roadmap to Intermediate and Advanced levels at the Acres Home Chamber.
