This week we are featuring a guest artist duo at Post 28: Long Nights Moon. Long Nights Moon is an acoustic classic rock duo out of Wasilla, Alaska, comprised of Kelly Williams on vocals and Mark Williams on guitar. Their growing catalogue of music is a balance of iconic classic rock songs, best-loved ballads, and contemporary nuggets that will have you smiling and humming along.Both of Kelly’s parents were military veterans.
Her father, Joseph M. Joyner Jr., served as a Seargent in the army during WWII. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge with the 35th infantry division (137th infantry regiment) under General Patton when he was only 21 years old, and was decorated with the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Later, he served as an officer in the USAF during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was stationed at Elmendorf AFB where he served with the 6981st unit before retiring at the rank of Major in 1968. He received full honors at his funeral when he passed in 2001, and is interred at the cemetery on J-BER.
Kelly’s mother, Mary M. Arbanas, served as an officer (2nd lieutenant) in the USAF during the Korean War.
Mark’s father Nick Williams served in the Army's 81st Airborne Division during the Korean war.
