Our featured musician on May 5 is JJ Shockley. JJ learned at an early age that he had a knack for remembering lyrics. He would not only remember the chorus of a song, but all the verses as well. He picked up the guitar when he was 20 and started learning the chords to the songs he loved to sing. JJ started performing on stage every chance he got at many different venues. He loves to play a wide variety of music ranging from classic country to classic rock and has many of his own originals too. JJ produced his first CD called “Foot Steps In The Snow” and is currently working on his second CD “Tell Me There Are No Monsters.” JJ is a son of Jack Shockley, Senior who served in both the Army and the Marines. JJ remembers how proud his father was of the time he served. JJ would listen to all the stories his dad would tell about the time he spent stationed in Germany, and his training at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.
JJ is a member of the Sons of the Legion Squadron 28 and is a regular performer at Post 28’s Taco Tuesday Open Mics and Jams.
