Join ACEC-BC's Young Professionals Group on July 4 for a Speed Networking Event.
The ACEC-BC Lower Mainland Committee is excited to host a Speed Networking Night for Young Professionals. Guest Speakers Katherine Miller and Raya Smertina will be providing valuable insight into the power of networking and discovering effective strategies to enhance your networking skills to leave a lasting impression.
Don't miss out on this opportunity to exchange ideas, build valuable connections, and hone those networking skills in a facilitated networking session.
Project Manager - Rail and Transit,
Katherine has always had a passion for math, science, building things (with Lego and crafts), and contributing to the community. She has been pursuing her passions through her career in Rail & Transit Engineering, designing rail transit and its associated infrastructure. The projects she works on strive to serve the public and help shape communities and cities. Today, she works at Mott MacDonald, where she uses her passion for working on diverse teams to help to solve intricate challenges within urban environments.
Katherine compliments her technical expertise in rail design with a collaborative and positive attitude. Whether it is on projects or her volunteering, she strives to work with her colleagues to find the best solution that meets the needs of stakeholders. She currently volunteers for ACEC-BC Transportation Conference Committee and has previously volunteered ACEC-BC Young Professionals Group and Women in Male Dominated Industries, where she strives to support and empower others.
Project Manager - Ports and Terminals,
Raya Smertina is a Structural Engineer and Project Manager at Hatch in the Vancouver office with 12 years' experience in consulting engineering. Since joining Hatch in 2019, Raya has helped deliver more than $1.5B worth of complex, multidisciplinary infrastructure projects, working with teams across Canada and the US. She is currently on the management team for TransLink's Operations and Maintenance Center 4 for SkyTrain expansion in Coquitlam, BC. Raya is past Chair of the ACEC-BC Young Professionals' Group and current Chair of the Future Leaders' Network and Board Member with ACEC Canada. She is also the current Chair of the Editorial Advisory Board with EGBC for Innovation magazine and is actively involved in Hatch internal mentorship programs.
