Accidental Counsellor – Adult Workshop

Accidental Counsellor is a 1-day workshop designed to build practical skills for supporting someone experiencing emotional distress, relationship challenges, or difficulties coping with life.
Participants receive a workbook on the day.

2. Personal characteristics of an Accidental Counsellor
3. What effects our responses to others?
4. Why we feel the way we do?
5. Definitions of strong emotions
6. Not taking things personally
7. Different communication styles
8. Overview of listening skills
9. Understanding crisis

Session 2:

1. Communication barriers, process and rules
2. Acknowledgment
3. Silence
4. Conflict
5. Summarising
6. Reframing
7. Stress, anxiety, well-being, suicide awareness
8. Healthy boundaries, co-dependency, self-righting
9. Self-care, mindfulness
