About this Event

Whether you are already interested in film, TV and games, or you haven’t yet discovered the world of opportunities behind the camera — we want to work with you! The Access NFTS: Inspire events are designed to offer a deeper insight and provide skills, knowledge and inspiration for a career within the film, TV and games industry.


Venue | ABC Buildings | Manchester

Experience: Entry Level - Intermediate | Duration: 5.5 hours | Capacity: 80 per screening | 20 per workshop Cost: FREE


During the screenings. attendees will hear from NFTS students/graduates within a specific career area or role.

Through watching their work and hearing about their journey to where they are now, attendees will not only leave with knowledge and information, useful tips and advice from someone currently working in the industry, but hopefully also feel inspired to pursue a career in this industry themsleves.

After the screenings, workshops are also available. These hands on sessions are designed and delivered by the NFTS students/graduates and will help attendees understand some of the skills and qualities needed for the highlighted career area. All materials will be provided.

When booking tickets you can only book for 1 workshop as they will run simultaneously

Travel bursaries or assistance may be available if finance/travel creates a barrier for attendance, please contact us to discuss further.

Screening 1 | The War Within | Maya Segal | Director/Producer

Info: A U.S. veteran, still haunted by the war, travels to Colombia seeking relief he has not found through conventional treatment. In an Ayahuasca ceremony guided by Indigenous healers and explained by scientists, memory and resistance surface, opening the possibility of change.

Screening 2 | My Father Breaks Things| Louis Jousselme | Producer

Info: MY FATHER BREAKS THINGS is a father/daughter drama about a father’s inability to control his anger and the impact this has on his teenage daughter. Told from Poppy’s perspective, we follow her and her father, Adam, as they spend a day together at the seaside before Poppy moves to America with her mother. Adam and Poppy find their relationship at a turning point when Adam’s temper gets in the way once again, as his attempts to make the day perfect only makes things worse. As the day progresses and tensions mount, Poppy is pushed to a breaking point, startling herself with her own rage.

PRODUCING | The Game of Production | Led by Louis Jousselme

Info: This workshop is designed as a role-playing exercise in which attendees actively experience the key challenges and stakeholders of the film industry. Step by step, we will explore the demanding journey of a film project — from its initial idea, through financing and production, to its final distribution. Understanding each of these stages is essential to gaining an overall view of how a project is created, and consequently, a comprehensive understanding of the producer’s role.

Info: Step behind the scenes of professional script development. In this practical, interactive workshop, you’ll explore how to take a story idea and develop it into a compelling, pitch-ready script for film or television. We’ll walk through the key development stages used by working writers—from loglines and treatments to outlines and rewrites—equipping you with tools, techniques, and insight to elevate your storytelling.

In this hands-on session, you’ll learn the techniques behind stunning science and nature documentaries, guided by experienced filmmakers. Discover how single items can tell powerful stories and ignite your creativity in an exciting genre of visual storytelling.
